Heart Motif

Heart

Heart

This is a quick pattern I use often for making decorations for hats and cards.  I have also used it to make hanging decorations which I sell in my shop!

Heart on a hat!

Heart on a hat!

The pattern works for most wool and hook sizes, just match your hook to the label on the yarn.

Start by making a magic ring and chaining 1.

Round 1: 3dc, 1hdc, 2sc,1dc,2sc,hdc, 3 dc into ring. Chain 1 and sl-st into ring, pull to close.

Round 2: ch1, sc into chain space before the first dc of the last round.  2hdc in each of the next 3 sts, 3hdc, (hdc, dc) in next st, (dc, hdc) in next st, 3hdc, 2hdc in next 3 sts, sl-st into chain space, finish with an invisible join into the 1st sc.

Fasten off and weave in the ends (or use the ends to attach the heart to a hat or other work).

  4. I am having trouble copying or download the heart motif pattern. Email me the pattern with the magic ring. So adorable to make!

    • Hi Lisa. Sorry you are having trouble with the magic ring, I have provided a link (above) to a great tutorial for it. The heart pattern is in the text above, not sure what issues you are having with it?

  6. Very nice, made one tonight. So easy and now to make one in crochet cotton so it will be small for on cards.

    • Hi Rue! Yes it is. Also known as a magic circle or magic loop. If anyone struggles with this technique see the link above or use a ch4 and sl-st to join instead- your heart will have a hole in the middle if you do it this way.
